Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists all residents to enter and exit vehicle safely.
• Safely secures residents’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
• Maintains vehicle cleanliness and operational condition.
• Keeps records of trips and passenger behavior.
• Reports resident medical issues promptly.
• Maintains records of weekly vehicle inspections.
• Completes pre-trip, daily, and weekly checklists.
• Utilizes the Resident Securement Checklist for proper securement.
• Completes a Motor Vehicle Record Questionnaire annually.
• Attends annual training sessions on defensive driving and van transportation program.
• Participates in annual hands-on training on proper resident securement and demonstrates understanding through a return demonstration and completed program worksheet.
• Acknowledges safely responsibilities for authorized drivers.
• Reports accidents and vehicle/property damage.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required/Desired Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license. CDL may be required depending on state regulations.
• Satisfactory, safe driving record.
• At least 21 years old.
