Responsibilities

• Operate a semi unit with a 53’ drop deck trailer, Dodge 550 spreader truck, and bulk bags of fertilizer.
• Be responsible for the loading and unloading of the spreader from the trailer.
• Spread fertilizer at job sight according to work order specifications.
• Drive tractor-trailer combinations and straight trucks to transport and deliver products.
• Frequently interact with customers.
• Follow safety and placarding procedures.
• Perform trip, vehicle, and equipment inspections.
• Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service and repair.
• Obtain delivery receipts/signatures.
• Correctly maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions.
• Properly secure cargo for transport.
• Read invoices to determine assignment details.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, and damage to vehicles or property.
• Collaborate with other BWI employees (e.g., employee training and sharing information) to ensure customer satisfaction and teamwork.

Requirements

• At least 23 years old.
• A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) ‘A’ with Haz-Mat and Tanker Endorsement.
• At least one-year CDL driving experience.
• A clean MVR with less than 3 moving violations over three-year period.
• Able to pass DOT physical & DOT drug screen.
• No DWI / DUI convictions within the past 5 years.

Qualifications

• Understanding of weights and measurements.
• Operating loading-related equipment (some manual unloading may be required).

Skills

• Customer service skills.
• Physical stamina for long drives and occasional overnight stays.
• Ability to follow safety protocols.
• Good communication skills.

Wages are activity-based and are highly competitive!

Schedule

You will be home most nights, but may have 2 overnight trips weekly.
