About the role
We are seeking a safety-focused CDL Driver to support daily chemical distribution operations. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including both liquid and dry products.
Responsibilities
- Perform bulk and packaged deliveries of liquid and dry materials using appropriate trailer configurations
- Execute proper loading and unloading procedures using pumps, air systems, and other equipment
- Manage the entire transport, transfer, and delivery process including securement and required documentation
- Operate tractors, trailers, and service vehicles in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and site-specific regulations
- Conduct pre-trip inspections, maintain daily logs, and report repairs
- Follow all Brenntag operating procedures, safety policies, and customer/vendor site requirements
- Obtain and maintain certification to operate pallet jacks; operate forklifts, dock locks, dock levelers, and other equipment as required by location
- Care for assigned equipment including ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, and tracking units
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure equipment is in working order before use
- Communicate with supervisor/dispatcher to receive delivery instructions
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or US military experience
- Meet all components of driver qualifications (DQ) for employment
- Class A CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat Endorsement (as required)
- Current DOT medical card
- If position requires respirator use, no facial hair that may interfere with respirator seal
- Current TWIC card or proof of application in process (if location requires)
- Ability to drive manual transmission
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed
- Ability to perform general warehouse duties and use applicable equipment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math in English
- Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices (smartphones, tablets, transportation platforms)
- Willingness to operate power units with advanced camera and safety systems
- Must reside within sixty miles of location; no lodging provided
- Pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and E-Verify
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year liquid bulk hauling experience or 3 years commercial truck driving experience
- Certification from an Accredited Commercial Driving Academy
Physical Requirements
- Pass pre-employment DOT fit-for-duty exam
- Ability to sit and drive for long hours
- Safe entry and exit from equipment
- Ability to stage, move, set up, operate, and break down equipment during loading/delivery tasks
- Lifting up to 75 pounds; frequently push, pull, or move up to 150 pounds
- Ability to wear required PPE including respirator (if applicable)
- Capable of loading/unloading hazardous materials and climbing ladders
