Duties And Responsibilities

• Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport scrap metal and materials within the recycling yard and to external locations.
• Safely maneuver and navigate within the recycling yard, which may include tight spaces and varying terrain.
• Affix to assist in loading and unloading scrap metal onto trucks using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or cranes.
• Ensure secure placement and balancing of loads to maintain safety during transport.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials.
• Complete necessary paperwork and shipment documentation, including weight tickets, manifests, and vehicle inspection reports.
• Conduct basic maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment, promptly reporting issues to maintenance staff.

Required Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience with a valid Class A Restricted or Class B Commercial Driver's License or current employment at BlueScope Recycling with good performance working toward obtaining CDL.
• Experience driving commercial vehicles, preferably in a scrap recycling or similar industry.
• Ability to operate forklifts or other loading equipment safely.
• Knowledge of safety regulations related to the transportation and handling of scrap materials.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete paperwork accurately.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the scrap metal industry preferred.
• Experience with semi-end-dump, semi-roll-off, flatbed, van, and tin trailers.
• No transmission restrictions.
