Position Summary
The Driver supports the daily operations of the community by safely transporting residents to appointments, activities, and community outings. This role requires a calm, patient, and service-oriented individual who enjoys building relationships with older adults and representing the community with professionalism. The Driver ensures residents travel safely, comfortably, and on schedule while maintaining the vehicle in excellent condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Resident Transportation
- Safely transport residents to medical appointments, shopping trips, community events, and scheduled outings
- Aid residents in and out of the vehicle, ensuring dignity and safety
- Provide wheelchair assistance and secure mobility devices according to policy
- Maintain accurate trip logs, schedules, and documentation
- Vehicle Safety & Maintenance
- Conduct daily safety checks and routine inspections of the community vehicle
- Report maintenance needs promptly and coordinate service as directed
- Keep the vehicle clean, fueled, and in good working condition
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies
- Customer Service & Community Engagement
- Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and families
- Communicate professionally with staff, residents, and external partners
- Represent the community positively during all outings
- Support activity staff during group outings as needed
- Compliance & Safety
- Follow all state regulations and company policies related to resident transport
- Ensure proper use of seatbelts, lifts, and securement systems
- Respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations or delays
- Participate in required training, including safety, emergency procedures, and resident care basics
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Experience working with seniors, healthcare, hospitality, or customer service preferred
- Ability to assist residents with mobility needs, including wheelchairs and walkers
- Strong communication skills and a patient, friendly demeanor
- Ability to follow schedules, directions, and safety procedures
- Must pass background checks and meet state requirements for senior living transportation
