Driver Apprentice - Road

Position Overview This role involves operating tractor-trailer combinations to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-point locations. It includes developing driving skills and may involve non-driving tasks such as forklift operation and dock work. Key Responsibilities Operate various trucks, perform safety inspections, hook/unhook trailers, maintain logs, complete documentation, follow dispatch instructions, and ensure compliance with hazardous material regulations. Additional duties may include freight handling, tire chaining, and customer service. Qualifications & Skills Must possess a valid Class A CDL or CLP, acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, and meet DOT regulations. Basic math, communication skills, physical ability to handle trailer equipment, and the ability to follow instructions are required. Ability to work independently or as part of a team is essential. Working Conditions Driving long distances in various weather conditions, exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and hazardous materials. Overnight stays and variable hours may be required. Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate ranges from $27.86 to $33.17, with comprehensive benefits including health plans, PTO, 401(k), bonuses, and more.
