Driver Apprentice - Road

Position Overview This role involves operating tractor-trailer combinations to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and/or turn-point locations. It includes developing driving skills through education and may involve non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work. Key Responsibilities Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucksPerform safety inspections before and after tripsHook/unhook trailers and maintain accurate logs and documentationFollow dispatch instructions and communicate effectivelyEnsure compliance with hazardous material regulations and company policiesProvide customer service and perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipmentPerform tire chaining and other duties as needed Qualifications & Skills Class A CDL or commercial learning permitAcceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)Knowledge of DOT regulations and basic math skillsEffective communication skillsPhysical ability to lift approximately 100 pounds and perform related tasksAbility to work independently or as part of a team Working Conditions: Drive long distances in various weather conditions, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and potentially hazardous materials. Flexibility in hours and overnight stays may be required.
