Driver Apprentice - Road

Position Overview This role involves operating tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-point locations. Responsibilities include training to develop driving skills, performing safety inspections, hooking/unhooking trailers, maintaining logs, and completing documentation. Non-driving duties may involve forklift operation, working at docks, freight handling, and tire chaining. The role requires compliance with safety, hazardous material, and legal regulations, along with excellent communication and customer service skills. Qualifications Possession of a valid Class A CDL or equivalent permitAcceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)Meeting DOT regulatory requirementsBasic math, communication skills, and ability to follow instructionsPhysical ability to lift approximately 100 pounds, sit for extended periods, and perform manual tasksAbility to work independently or as part of a team Work Conditions Drive long distances in various weather conditions, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and DOT-regulated hazardous materials. Work hours may vary, with potential overnight stays required for some schedules.
