About the role

Directs and controls the operation of the Grocery Home Shopping Department to achieve sales and profit objectives. As a primary contact for customers, provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. Spends majority of time selecting orders and ensuring processing/delivery of customers' orders are completed to standards and within set timelines. Held accountable for department results in providing superior service, increasing sales, improving gain, and containing cost.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within scope of position and company policy.
• Operate handheld computer/scanning unit to check in items from orders, ensuring merchandise matches the order.
• Identify and locate items proficiently within ambient, chilled, and frozen categories of the store.
• Monitor processing of all customer orders to ensure customers receive all products ordered/charged for.
• Monitor/review picking of orders to ensure time commitments are met.
• Bag grocery items and place into bins.
• Push filled cart to back-room area and stage onto hand trucks.
• Push loaded hand truck to delivery truck and load filled bins, ensuring correct loading.
• Train, schedule, and supervise Personal Shoppers.
• Ensure all daily/weekly routines are adhered to for legal compliance.
• Maintain cleanliness of store and back-room area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to train teams of people.
• Demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of Safeway is highly desirable.

Pay and benefits

The pay range is $17.38 to $23.71 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates vary based on location, experience, qualifications, and applicable collective bargaining agreement. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility), dependent on length of service, hours worked, and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
