About the Role

Our Dallas team is seeking a Project Technical Leader to serve as a key technical authority on complex municipal water and wastewater projects. In this role, you will shape design strategy, elevate quality standards, and guide multidisciplinary teams through the successful delivery of critical facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams in the design and delivery of water treatment facilities and related infrastructure, providing technical oversight and serving as engineer-of-record for process modeling and construction documentation. Alternative delivery experience such as progressive design build is a plus.
  • Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign off on completed designs.
  • Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
  • Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications and update design requirements as necessary.
  • Perform water quality analyses and modeling.
  • Contribute to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs and studies.
  • Submit technical papers and designs for publishing in technical journals.
  • Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client RFPs and review draft proposals for adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Proactively meet with current and potential clients to review their design needs.
  • Attend conferences and symposia to improve the visibility of the firm’s products and services.
  • Act as a point of contact for external clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide project updates.
  • Provide technical guidance and training for junior staff and mentor them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 12 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required (10% or less).
  • An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge and multi-discipline experience in planning, designing, and managing large-scale projects.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and persuasively with clients and employees at all levels.
  • Ability to leverage a matrix organization to build relationships and drive results.
  • Ability to understand highly complex technical, professional, and business materials.

Pay

Pay Range: USD $105,227.00 – $184,142.00. CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. Additional factors such as relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and education/training may also influence salary.

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
