Drill Rig Operator - Test Borings
About the role
The ideal candidate MUST be experienced in all phases of test borings with at least 5 years of drill rig operation. Including experience in: hollow stem auger, rock coring, mud rotary drilling, split spoon, and Shelby tube sampling. Keeping accurate boring logs with the ability to describe soil types using the Burmister and/or Unified Classification System. Experience in operating other heavy equipment such as Backhoe, Excavator, Skid steer, is a plus. MUST have CDL - A or B.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of drill rigs including hollow stem auger, rock coring, mud rotary drilling, split spoon, and Shelby tube sampling.
- Keep accurate boring logs and describe soil types using the Burmister and/or Unified Classification System.
- Operate other heavy equipment such as Backhoe, Excavator, Skid steer.
- Maintain safety protocols and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in test borings.
- Experience with various drilling techniques including hollow stem auger, rock coring, mud rotary drilling, split spoon, and Shelby tube sampling.
- Knowledge of the Burmister and/or Unified Classification System for describing soil types.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as Backhoe, Excavator, Skid steer.
- Valid CDL - A or B.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Geologist (P.G.) certification preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating various types of drill rigs and heavy equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in logging boring data.
- Knowledge of soil classification systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay
Salary range: $50,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience.
