Drill Rig Operator - Test Borings

About the role

The ideal candidate MUST be experienced in all phases of test borings with at least 5 years of drill rig operation. Including experience in: hollow stem auger, rock coring, mud rotary drilling, split spoon, and Shelby tube sampling. Keeping accurate boring logs with the ability to describe soil types using the Burmister and/or Unified Classification System. Experience in operating other heavy equipment such as Backhoe, Excavator, Skid steer, is a plus. MUST have CDL - A or B.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of drill rigs including hollow stem auger, rock coring, mud rotary drilling, split spoon, and Shelby tube sampling.
  • Keep accurate boring logs and describe soil types using the Burmister and/or Unified Classification System.
  • Operate other heavy equipment such as Backhoe, Excavator, Skid steer.
  • Maintain safety protocols and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in test borings.
  • Experience with various drilling techniques including hollow stem auger, rock coring, mud rotary drilling, split spoon, and Shelby tube sampling.
  • Knowledge of the Burmister and/or Unified Classification System for describing soil types.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as Backhoe, Excavator, Skid steer.
  • Valid CDL - A or B.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Geologist (P.G.) certification preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Proficiency in operating various types of drill rigs and heavy equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in logging boring data.
  • Knowledge of soil classification systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience.
