Drill and Blast Operator

About the role

Haile Gold Mine, located in South Carolina, is the largest gold mine on the East Coast of America. Our employees are integral to our operations, with 84% living in the surrounding community. This role involves operating equipment safely and efficiently in a surface mine setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently
• Document and record all data for holes drilled during shift
• Rebuild DTH hammers
• Change out consumables on drill rig (bits, hammers, drill steels)
• Perform QAQC on blast patterns as needed
• Communicate with supervisor and other team members

Requirements

• Any experience with heavy equipment (Dozer, excavator, front-end loader)
• Experience with Sandvik DI650i or DR410i drill rigs
• Any drilling experience (oil and gas, exploration, RC)
• Blast hole loading experience
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Understanding of drill patterns and design
• Works well in a team environment
• Small support equipment experience (skid steer, WA-270 wheel loader)
• Attention to detail

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see
• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts
• Occasionally lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
• Work in a surface mine setting with exposure to temperature and humidity extremes
• Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, etc.)
