Drexel University Co-op: Embedded Software Engineering
About the role
SRI's Integrated Systems and Solutions (InSYS) division designs and develops leading-edge R&D technology that supports demanding market needs. The InSYS Center for Advanced Imaging Embedded Software Team is seeking innovative, highly motivated individuals to join a multidisciplinary group dedicated to the development of custom image sensor devices, modules, and systems for numerous commercial, spacecraft, and government applications. This includes development of high-speed cameras for applications such as low light imaging, space-based imagers, and LiDAR cameras. This position is based in Princeton, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing software for embedded devices and systems
- Designing, developing, coding, testing, and debugging system software
- Analyzing and enhancing efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources
Requirements
- Current Drexel University student majoring in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering
- Due to government contract requirements, candidates must be a US Citizen
- Programming experience in C/C++ or Python
- Experience with embedded systems (e.g., microcontroller, ARM)
- Familiarity with software configuration management tools, IDEs, bug tracking, and code revision tools (e.g., GitLab or Git)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with I2C, SPI, or UART
- Analysis and laboratory automation experience, including development with automation and analysis tools such as Python
Pay
The salary range for this position is $20–$27 per hour. Ranges may vary based on geographic location, market competitiveness, and internal equity. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance-Based Compensation program.
