Dredge Operator

About the role

Arcosa Aggregates is seeking a Dredge Operator based out of our Franklinton, LA plant. This role is responsible for operating dredge and mobile equipment to support safe, efficient aggregate production and plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Actively promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through positive recognition
• Help in the production of natural aggregates
• Operate at least two pieces of mobile equipment (e.g., haul truck, farm tractor, water truck, rubber tire backhoe, front loader), hydraulic pumps, and power winches
• Operate equipment in quarry or production settings
• Must have excavator and/or dozer experience
• May participate in safety committees or initiatives
• Ability to work alone on the dredge for extended periods
• Comply with industry safety rules, procedures, and applicable government regulations
• Perform daily pre‑shift equipment and workplace inspections
• Maintain strong communication with other plant employees and operators
• Direct or assist workers placing shore anchors and cables, laying additional pipes from dredges to shore, and pumping from pontoons
• Lower anchor poles to verify excavation depths
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience
• Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
• Positive, team‑based attitude
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and nights when necessary
• Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required
• Ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
• Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and determine needed maintenance
• Ability to operate at least two pieces of mobile equipment
