Qualifications
- Hold a New Jersey Theater teacher certificate.
- Hold a master’s degree in theater arts or theater design & technology.
- Have excellent experience in teaching and working with high school students.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the content field and describe ways in which the content can be organized into lessons for high school students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and good moral character.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with staff and families.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues in and out of the Department of Fine & Performing Arts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of theater pedagogy appropriate for high school.
- Develops and administers Drama classes consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Arranges opportunities for students to present performances both during and after school hours.
- Plans, rehearses, and directs student programs for the school and community.
- Ability to plan drama trips and performances.
- Build partnerships with community members, theatre companies, and colleges; coordinate after-school practices for performances.
- Develop a dynamic curriculum that fosters a love of theater and the arts and builds student empathy, creativity, and analytical skills.
- Develop daily lessons that produce a high level of student engagement in a student-centered environment.
