Drainage Project Engineer
About the role
We are currently searching for an experienced Drainage Project Engineer to support our Southwest Region located in Austin, Houston, McKinney, Rockwall, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler, TX.
Responsibilities
- Collecting and analyzing data for inclusion in Project Plans and reports
- Using computer engineering software to design stormwater management and storm drain systems, as well as soil erosion and sediment control systems
- Analyzing and designing hydrologic and hydraulic models for Transportation Improvement projects
- Permitting with different Regulatory and Water Management agencies
- Aiding and preparing project plans using OpenRoads Designer
- Contributing to the preparation and/or modification of considerable scope and complexity engineering reports and calculations for a wide variety of projects
- Preparing and assisting in the preparation of project construction details, quantities, cost estimates and project specifications
- Reviewing project quantity estimates, details, and check calculations and drawings for compliance to project requirements
- Preparing and assisting with the preparation of project schedules
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines, subconsultants, and other professionals to successfully deliver quality projects within budget and schedule
- Overseeing project design activities, supervising production efforts, and mentoring junior level support staff and other designers
- Performing other professional, management, marketing and networking duties as assigned
- Assist with roadway project development and other miscellaneous civil engineering tasks for project design and delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering
- Valid Professional Engineering Licensure preferred or the ability to acquire it within 6 months
- 4 - 6 years of relative/progressive drainage/water resources and TxDOT experience
- Experience with OpenRoads Designer, Storm CAD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software
- Previous TxDOT Drainage design experience and strong knowledge of TxDOT standards and procedures
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
