SUMMARY OF POSITION
Soffa Electric is a well-established systems integration firm with over 50 years in the industry. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Drafter to join our team. This role is ideal for someone looking to start their career in electrical design and drafting within a fast-paced systems integration environment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Aid engineers and project managers in developing drawing packages for control panel builds and system integration projects.
- Create and modify detailed electrical drawings including wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and cable schedules.
- Interpret engineering notes, redlines, and specifications to produce accurate electrical CAD models and documentation.
- Create and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD software.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers and designers to ensure that design intent is properly documented and constructible.
- Organize and maintain CAD files, drawing sets, and documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Assist with bill of materials (BOM) generation and technical documentation.
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry codes and company standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ANSI).
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on constructability or drafting improvements.
- Stay updated with latest CAD software features and drafting best practices.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, or similar CAD platforms.
- Understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and industry codes.
- Familiarity with electrical symbols, panel schedules, single-line diagrams, and power distribution layouts.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in electrical drafting or a similar role.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong organization skills and verbal and written communication.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This role operates in both an office and shop environment, supporting the design and build of custom electrical control panels.
