Drafter/CAD Operator

About the role

In this role, you will create and maintain a library of engineering drawings using AutoCAD, MS Visio, or similar applications to document facilities layout and system data interfaces. You will maintain configuration control of approved final drawings and coordinate with engineers to draft working copies for engineering projects and proposed design changes. Work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. SCSC is located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and provides AEGIS and Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) combat systems for engineering, testing, training, and certification.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a library of engineering drawings using AutoCAD, MS Visio, or similar applications to document facilities layout and system data interfaces.
• Maintain configuration control of approved final drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers to draft working copies for engineering projects and proposed design changes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience relevant to AutoCAD, MS Visio, or related applications.
• Experience adhering to American Institute of Architects (AIA) CAD Layer Guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience with U.S. Navy AEGIS and/or SSDS systems.
• Associate’s degree in drafting or related field.
• CAD certification.
