Drafter - CAD III, New Glenn Upper Stage

About the role

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

Responsibilities

• Build, modify, and maintain CAD models of spacecraft layouts, including but not limited to structures and mechanisms, avionics and power, fluids and propulsion, thermal, crew systems, and ground support equipment in Creo Parametric using top-down design principles
• Create interface control models and interface control drawings
• Export CAD representations for system level analysis and integration
• Audit configuration designs through concept development, interface management, procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and operations support
• Coordinate with configurators, architects, and discipline leads to develop and maintain interface control and ensure seamless integration for the production phase
• Apply relevant company, industry part design and drafting techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data representing the engineering designs as they evolve

Qualifications

• Extensive experience working in ProEngineer/Creo with Windchill familiarity
• Experience managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawing releases
• Experience creating fabrication and installation drawings
• Successful candidates in this role typically have 5+ years of related experience in automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle hardware
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired Experience

• Using PTC ProPiping, ProCabling, or Routed Systems Designer
• Experience with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41 drafting standards
• Solid understanding of common manufacturing materials, GD&T, and tolerance/stack-up analysis
• Experience with spacecraft components, installation, and fabrication methods of piping systems
