The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) honored Dr. Rakesh Jain with the AACR Award for Lifetime Achievement in Cancer Research at the AACR Annual Meeting 2025.
Dr. Jain is an Indian-American scientist known for pioneering the notion that a tumor is a complex organ fueled by its microenvironment.
His work has significantly advanced our understanding of tumor biology and influenced the development of new drug combinations for cancer treatment.

Dr. Jain joined the AACR in 1979 and was elected as a Fellow of the AACR Academy in 2020.
He is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine, and the National Academy of Engineering.
In 2016, he received the United States National Medal of Science from President Barack Obama.
