DPW Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator

About the role

The Town of Carlisle is seeking qualified applicants for positions within the Department of Public Works (DPW) to perform manual and skilled labor in support of construction, maintenance, and repair of the Town’s public ways, parks, drainage systems, and other municipal infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Manual labor and equipment operation related to roadway maintenance
• Drainage work
• Snow plowing and sanding
• Brush and tree cutting
• Mowing
• Street repair
• Other Public Works activities

Requirements

• Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required for Driver/Operator/Laborer and Heavy Equipment Operator positions
• Valid 2B Hoisting Engineer License required for Heavy Equipment Operator positions (issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety)
• Successful completion of a background check, pre‑employment physical, and drug screening

Pay

• Driver/Operator/Laborer (CDL Required): Grade 4 – hiring range $27.57 – $28.13 per hour
• Heavy Equipment Operator/Laborer (CDL + 2B Hoisting License): Grade 5 – hiring range $30.02 – $30.63 per hour

Schedule

Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with overtime and emergency response required during snow and weather events.
