About the role
This skilled labor position is responsible for the operation of utility equipment necessary to complete public services projects as delegated by the DPS Director, DPS Maintenance Lead, and/or their designee. Duties include construction, maintenance, and operation of water utility distribution networks and storm and wastewater collection systems and facilities. Additional responsibilities include grounds, roads, and facility maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Operation, use, and application of utility equipment associated with excavation, clearing, trenching, grading, and materials hauling.
- Achieve and maintain within 18 months of hire at least a S-4 Water Operator license with the state of Michigan.
- Achieve and maintain within 18 months of hire a CDL Class B State of Michigan Drivers License.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of knowledge and experience in the operation, use, and application of utility equipment associated with excavation, clearing, trenching, grading, and materials hauling.
- Preference will be given to candidates who already hold a S-4 Water Operator license with the state of Michigan and a CDL Class B State of Michigan Drivers License.
Qualifications
Union position. Hourly Rate - $24.51 to start (position has a wage progression schedule, starting pay is 85% of the position pay, full position pay of 100% at four-year anniversary).
