About the role

The DoW SkillBridge Field Engineer Program offers a hands-on opportunity for Active Duty Service Members to transition into the commercial construction industry through real-world jobsite experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Superintendents and site teams with daily operations
  • Support field documentation and drawing control
  • Enforce safety standards (OSHA & company)
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and communicate effectively
  • Provide schedule support and look-ahead planning
  • Manage site layout, elevations, and quality control
  • Lead and supervise field labor

Qualifications

  • Active Duty Service member in the United States Military
  • Approved or able to attain approval for a 60-90 day minimum SkillBridge opportunity
  • Leadership, integrity, perseverance, reliability, respect, self-discipline, dedication, and dependability
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Personal motivation, initiative, and potential for growth
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and limited direction
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude for management and ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Confidentiality maintenance
  • Limited knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)

Training Outcomes

By the end of the program, the SkillBridge participant will demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Commercial construction means & methods
  • Field documentation and drawing control
  • Safety enforcement (OSHA & company standards)
  • Subcontractor coordination and communication
  • Schedule support and look-ahead planning
  • Site layout, elevations, and quality control
  • Leadership and supervision of field labor

Physical Demands

  • Frequent travel by motor vehicle
  • Extended hours on construction sites
  • Movement around premises to move materials and tools
  • Lifting and moving materials and tools with a maximum weight limit of 50lbs

Travel Requirements

Travel required based on project location.
