About the role

L3Harris is offering an internships program called DoW SkillBridge to active service members with 180 days of service or fewer remaining prior to separation. This program provides service members with valuable civilian work experience through industry-specific training, certifications, and on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft components in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify any wear, tear, or damage, and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and resolve aircraft system issues.
  • Adhere to maintenance manuals, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements during all maintenance activities.
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately in maintenance logs and records.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and provide feedback on aircraft performance and any issues encountered.
  • Ensure that all tools, materials, and equipment are calibrated correctly and maintained in good working condition.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance maintenance processes and practices.
  • Perform flightline operations, aircraft inspections, or repairs, sometimes in confined spaces and inclement weather.

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-secondary/associates degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Requires experience in aircraft maintenance on C-130, preferably with a focus on complex mechanical and avionics systems.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to obtain certification to operate self-propelled vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, aircraft support equipment, and towing vehicles.
  • Proficiency with aircraft maintenance software and diagnostic tools.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
  • Able to climb, including ladders, stairs, and portable stands and navigate these with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to lift objects, up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to pass a flightline physical.
  • Able to obtain and maintain Clearance required.
  • Must have required tools prior to starting work; tool list will be provided. Tools must be shadowed and engraved.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred.
  • Experience with a variety of aircraft models that the company operates, such as C-130, P-8A, G550, etc.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with a focus on avionics and electrical systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with engineers, customers, and other maintenance staff.
