About the Opportunity
The fiscal year 2026 (FY26) Neurofibromatosis Research Program (NFRP) Investigator-Initiated Research Award (IIRA) supports high-impact research addressing a critical need in neurofibromatosis disorders or advancing patient care. Research projects may focus on any phase of research, excluding clinical trials. The rationale for a research idea may stem from laboratory discovery, population-based studies, clinical observations, or anecdotal data. Applications must include preliminary and/or published data relevant to neurofibromatosis and the proposed research project.
Distinctive Features
This award offers two funding levels based on participation in optional features:
- Open Science Initiative: Catalyzes neurofibromatosis research through early data access and sharing within the community.
- Optional Qualified Collaborator: Encourages collaboration between basic and clinical researchers, as well as between academic and biotechnology scientists.
Funding Levels
- Level 1: Applications without optional features.
- Level 2: Applications including one of the optional features.
