About the role

The program, administered by the DoW Office of the Chief of Information Officer (CIO), is designed to address the growing demand for skilled cyber professionals within the Department. This 12-month program provides a paid, structured, progressive pathway for individuals seeking to launch or advance their careers in cyber.

Responsibilities

  • Gain practical skills in areas such as security operations, network defense, ethical hacking, and the application of artificial intelligence to cyber threat analysis.
  • Participate in a blend of asynchronous online learning, interactive labs, mentorship, and on-the-job training.
  • Prepare for and obtain industry-recognized certifications.
  • Contribute immediately to the Department's cyber defense efforts.

Requirements

Positions covered:

  • Cyber Defense Analyst
  • Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist
  • Cyber Defense Incident Responder

Qualifications

Applicants must have a strong foundation in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field. Prior experience in cybersecurity is preferred but not required. The program is open to both current DoW employees and external applicants.

Skills

Desired skills include problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for cybersecurity. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Linux is beneficial but not mandatory.
