The Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) is the owner and operator of both Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall and Martin State Airports, serving over 27 million passengers annually. MAA is currently accepting applications for the position of DOT Internal Auditor Supervisor within the Office of Enterprise Strategy & Performance at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting and supervising audits of MAA offices, MAA’s contractors, airport tenants, and concessionaires.
  • Conducting contract compliance audits for expenditure and revenue-generating contracts.
  • Supervising the performance of audit tests and identifying material exceptions to generally accepted accounting principles; and material noncompliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and contract provisions.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling financial and operational transactions, documents, records, and reports to obtain facts and verify the accuracy of reported information and data.
  • Holding exit conferences with auditees to discuss audit results and obtain their response to findings.
  • Performing investigations of all complaints relating to fraud, waste, abuse, conflict of interest, and misappropriation of fiscal resources.
  • Conducting and supervising special audits, reviews, and special projects as requested by management.

This position is located at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County, MD.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in accounting and related courses.
  • Experience: Five years of experience conducting financial and operational internal or external audits that include elements for finance and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program results.

Selective Qualification: Three years of this experience must include performing contract compliance audits.

Notes:

  • Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974, will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.
  • Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor or a master’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  • Applicants may substitute one year of accounting experience for one year of auditing experience.
  • Candidates may substitute equivalent U.S. Armed Forces military service experience for civilian experience cited above.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle and may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
