Position Summary
Assist crews in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground traffic signal/roadway lighting systems. This entry-level position supports crew members by preparing job sites, handling tools and materials, and ensuring worksite safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Aid in setting up and maintaining safe work zones (e.g., flagging traffic, placing signs and cones).
- Load, unload, and organize tools, equipment, and materials.
- Pull ropes and guide electrical cables during installation.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
- Clean and maintain tools, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with framing poles, installing hardware, and preparing underground conduit.
- Dig holes and trenches using manual or powered tools.
- Handle the disposal of old equipment and debris from job sites.
- Observe and follow safety procedures and company regulations.
- Learn and apply basic knowledge of electrical systems and utility operations.
- Report equipment issues or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
Requirements
- Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
- Must be able to get along with fellow workers, other tradesmen on the jobsite, inspectors, customers, and the public.
- Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.
