About the Role
The Medical Dosimetrist functions as an integral member of the Department of Radiation Medicine (or its outreach/affiliates) at the Medical Center. The team provides patient care and supportive services aimed at achieving patient care outcomes through the integrated skills of all team members. The Medical Dosimetrist is thoroughly familiar with geometric characteristics of radiation equipment, radioactive sources commonly employed, and has the training and expertise necessary to generate radiation dose distributions and calculations under the direction of the radiation therapy physicist. The role includes operating and performing quality assurance on the treatment planning computer.
Responsibilities
- Measure and generate radiation dose distributions.
- Perform dose calculations as part of the treatment planning team.
- Operate and perform quality assurance on the treatment planning computer.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic, Physical, or Biologic Science or a related field of study, or 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) certified within 2 years of hire.
- No prior medical dosimetry experience required if eligible to sit for the MDCB exam.
