DONOR ROOM PHLEBOTOMIST (OKLAHOMA CITY, OK)
Our Blood Institute is actively seeking qualified candidates for a rewarding position responsible for providing a safe and pleasant blood donation experience for donors.
About the role
This position offers world-class paid on-the-job training with no experience required. The phlebotomist should exemplify superior customer service, professionalism, donor care, and technical ability. Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends. Reliable transportation, a working telephone, the ability to stand for long periods, and lift 40 lbs regularly are required.
Responsibilities
- Perform registration, vitals, medical screening, phlebotomy, heat sealing duties, and record-keeping associated with whole-blood, autologous, directed, therapeutic, testing services, research projects, etc.
- Strictly adhere to all standard operating procedures to ensure blood products are collected within quality standards set by regulatory agencies, including the FDA.
- Assist the supervisor in verifying and completing daily paperwork.
- Alert the supervisor of any problems or concerns related to equipment, venipuncture, donor questions/issues, or equipment performance.
- Continually assess donor needs throughout the donation process, including evaluating and treating donor reactions.
- Educate donors on blood facts, such as donation frequency and the need for blood products.
- Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (college classes are a plus).
- Must be on-time, reliable, a good communicator, detail-oriented, and able to work well with others.
- Passion for helping save lives.
Pay
Competitive pay based on experience, with additional pay for technical school certification, associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and fluency in Spanish. Bonuses include $500 after 6 months and $1,000 after 1 year, with up to $3,000 in total bonuses paid at 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years.
