Founded in Boston, MA in 1902 by Reverend Edgar J Helms, Goodwill has been providing opportunities for men and women across America and around the world ever since. Goodwill Industries of Akron was established in 1927 in a one-room salon at the corner of Howard and Furnace Streets as a branch of Goodwill Industries of Cleveland. Responsibilities
- Accept, load, unload, sort, and price donations.
- Accept merchandise donations and provide assistance to donors.
- Always offer donors a coupon, a receipt, and a smile.
- Sort clothing and household goods into categories.
- Test electronics to ensure they work properly before pricing them.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of donations.
- Help promote the development of service participants.
- Maintain a safe work area by keeping it clean and free of hazards and operating equipment with attention to safe operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and load donations for clothing, furniture, and other household goods.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
- Customer service skills.
- Good communication skills and enjoyment working with people.
- Ability to work efficiently with awareness of surroundings.
- Can-do, get-it-done attitude.
Schedule
This entry-level position requires a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
