Domestic Assistant
About the role
We are looking for a Domestic Assistant to join our team at Northgate Park Morpeth. This is a part-time position for 15 hours per week, working 8am to 4pm every Saturday and Sunday. Our team ensures our buildings are clean and tidy, providing a great service to patients, visitors, and staff. Your work will support better patient care in the NHS, and you’ll take pride in completing tasks to a high standard.
In community buildings, you’ll work alongside patients with mental health illnesses, learning disabilities, or brain injuries, cleaning their rooms and shared ward areas. While challenging, this role is also rewarding, allowing you to get to know patients and clinical staff as part of the team.
Responsibilities
- Carry out a range of cleaning tasks in offices, public areas (e.g., corridors), patient spaces (e.g., shared wards, bedrooms, and bathrooms), including:
- Dusting walls, ceilings, and curtain rails
- Dusting and polishing furniture and paintwork
- Hoovering carpets and mopping floors
- Follow instructions and a routine work schedule, often working without supervision
- Work respectfully, compassionately, and inclusively alongside patients
- Use equipment and cleaning products safely, adhering to COSHH (Control of Substances Harmful to Health) regulations
- Follow infection prevention and control rules
- Complete paperwork such as quality checks and other required documentation
- Assist with cleaning audits, surveys, and inspections
- Participate in required training and stay updated with company communications
- Demonstrate company values: caring, compassionate, respectful, honest, and transparent
