About the role
Domestic Services Department are recruiting for Domestic Assistants to undertake cleaning responsibilities across Perth & Kinross locality in order to deliver the highest standard of cleanliness within the healthcare setting. This includes areas such as wards, side rooms, theatres, offices, health centres, GP practices etc.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team or on your own initiative, including lone working.
- Communicate information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Respond constructively to unpredictable situations and cope under pressure.
- Complete Domestic-related paperwork.
- Maintain awareness of basic Health & Safety and Infection Control issues associated with the role.
- Carry out tasks in a methodical manner and follow instructions.
- Complete mandatory training, both online and face-to-face.
- Undertake a range of duties in a safe and competent manner, including walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting using appropriate aids.
- Work in busy clinical and non-clinical environments, which may include areas with increased heat, secure units, and distressed patients.
- Work in environments that may be classed as infected.
- Maintain a professional approach and observe confidentiality.
- Be reliable and responsible, and demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt.
- Work throughout NHS Tayside at various sites/areas as required.
- Complete the Health Care Support Workers Workbook to ensure competency in the role.
- Comply with the Code of Conduct throughout employment.

- Relevant permission to work in the UK (NHS Tayside is required to verify this). Note: This role does not qualify for a skilled worker visa/sponsorship.
