As a Domestic Assistant you will provide a high-quality cleaning service working either individually or as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities
- Provide a high standard of cleaning within clinical and non-clinical areas, reducing the risk of infections by following agreed work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with the National Standards of Cleanliness.
- Operate cleaning equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
- Dispose of waste in accordance with the Trust Waste Policy.
- Accurately complete all required documentation to support specific service processes, e.g., Terminal cleans.
- Perform cleaning and other associated tasks in any ward, department, operating theatre, laboratory, corridor, catering area, office or residential accommodation as required, including working as a team member.
- Ensure the highest possible standard of cleanliness is achieved, complying with the National Standards of Cleanliness and the local Infection Control Policy to minimise the risk of cross infection.
- Undertake deep clean/isolation cleans following national and local guidelines.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Essential:
- Literate – basic education
- Desirable:
- Understanding of infection control in relation to cleanliness
- Understanding of Health and Safety
- Knowledge of COSHH
Skills
- Essential:
- Good communication skills, must be able to communicate with other members of Trust staff
- Good writing skills
- Desirable:
- Previous use of cleaning machines and chemicals
Experience
- Desirable:
- Previous Domestic experience
Qualifications
- Desirable:
- NVQ / City and Guilds Qualifications
Schedule
- Monday - Friday 07:00-10:00 (Freeman Hospital based, Cramlington - Manor Walks - outpatients clinic)
- Monday - Friday 17:00-20:00
