Job Overview

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of heavy civil and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, and cranes, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment, identifying and reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment as required.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations (OSHA, MSHA, etc.).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine appropriate equipment usage and project specifications.
  • Grade and level earth, excavate trenches, move materials, and perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assist with the assembly, disassembly, and positioning of mechanical components and structures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and other site personnel.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of work performed and equipment hours.
  • Participate in site safety meetings and training programs.

Job Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proven experience (minimum 2-5 years) operating a variety of heavy civil and mechanical equipment in a construction or industrial setting.
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record, as eligible to drive company vehicles and equipment on public roads.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and safety instructions.
  • Strong understanding of equipment limitations, capacities, and safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and work in various weather conditions and challenging terrains.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
