About the role

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload freight from trailers using manual and powered equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts
  • Sort and organize freight in the dock area according to destination or shipment priority
  • Inspect freight for damage, verify labeling and documentation and report any discrepancies
  • Absorb and organize freight in the dock area according to destination or shipment priority
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock environment
  • Ensure proper handling and securement of freight to prevent damage during transit
  • Communicate with dispatchers, drivers, and warehouse staff to ensure timely processing of shipments
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures during operations

Requirements

  • The ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work well under pressure
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods
  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • A flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends
  • One to two years of dock or warehouse experience
  • Experience using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment (certification is a plus)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
  • Physical stamina and strength
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
