About the role
The Docketing Specialist provides multi-jurisdictional litigation calendaring and docketing services to litigation teams using the firm's docketing management software. This position requires an in-depth understanding of federal, state, and local rules, as well as practices and procedures for multiple practice areas.
Responsibilities
- Review documents for relevant dates and enter deadlines into the firm's docketing/calendaring system (BEC or similar software), following docketing policies and procedures.
- Create, review, and distribute calendar and case reports.
- Respond to requests from litigation team members regarding docketed events, deadlines, court procedures, and rules.
- Work independently to recognize docketing anomalies and conduct appropriate research to resolve them.
- Assist in investigating docket issues and implementing solutions to mitigate future issues.
- Create and maintain documentation for docketing processes, procedures, guidelines, and practices.
- Provide back-up support to Client Service Specialists and Legal Operations Specialists.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, docketing system(s), and technical considerations to present options for enhancing the practice, increasing efficiencies, and meeting client needs.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
- Strong data management skills.
- Prior hands-on working experience with BEC Docket Enterprise preferred.
