Docketing Specialist
Ogletree Deakins is seeking an experienced Docketing Specialist to join our Client Information Risk Services department. This role focuses on reviewing electronic mail and filings for accuracy, communicating with attorneys and staff, and managing docketing projects. The position may be remote, but the candidate must reside in a state where the firm has a physical office.
About the Role
The Docketing Specialist executes a wide range of functions, including reviewing records, entering deadlines into the docketing system, generating reports, and ensuring compliance with jurisdictional rules. The role involves collaboration with attorneys, paralegals, and practice assistants, as well as participation in firm-wide initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Review records and enter schedules or deadlines into the docketing system.
- Generate and proof routine and specialized docketing reports, distributing them according to the department schedule.
- Review state, federal, and judges’ rules for date calculations and share findings with the team.
- Identify and resolve conflicting data prior to entry.
- Ensure retention of source documents and docket confirmations in the Document Management System (DMS).
- Stay updated on procedural and rule developments in relevant forums.
- Conduct research into calendaring, jurisdictional rules, and regulations within docketing software.
- Perform date calculations applying jurisdictional rules.
- Manage assigned projects or tasks for local, regional, or firm-wide initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in litigation.
- Familiarity with federal and state agencies.
- Experience with CourtAlert or other docketing systems preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Document Management Systems (DMS).
- Familiarity with PACER and Electronic Court Filings (ECFs).

The pay range for this remote position varies by location as follows:
- California: $67,272 – $102,159
- Colorado: $71,604 – $92,664
- Connecticut: $71,604 – $97,126
- Illinois: $75,052 – $97,126
- Jersey City, New Jersey: $78,941 – $102,159
- Nevada: $65,239 – $84,427
- Maryland: $67,272 – $87,058
- Massachusetts: $78,941 – $102,159
- Minnesota: $67,272 – $87,058

- New York City, New York: $78,941 – $102,159
- New York State: $65,239 – $102,159

Actual compensation is contingent on relevant experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. This role is also eligible for performance-based bonuses.
