About the role

The Dock Hand is an integral part of the support team for the marina. They are responsible for working directly with the team to support the day-to-day needs of the marina; including vessel cleaning, coordination of onboard provisions and pumping fuel at marinas that have a fuel dock. The Dock Hand provides excellent customer service to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all marina visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and checking in guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Aiding with reservations, providing information about the facility and services, amenities and policies.
  • Handling payment procedures.
  • Handling cash transactions accurately and securely.
  • Maintaining an organized cash drawer and reconciling transactions at the end of each shift.
  • Fulfilling emergency situations, such as fire alarms or medical emergencies.
  • Providing assistance to guests and staff as needed.
  • Aiding with removing mooring covers.
  • Assisting with preparing boats for scheduled outings.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the yachts: washing, polishing chrome, cleaning teak floors, cleaning engine compartments, replacing oil sorbs as needed.

Requirements

  • Boating experience is a plus but not required.
  • Will be operating equipment to include tractors/mowers/hoist/etc.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education.
  • Strong customer service orientation, basic accounting skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Basic boating knowledge is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management systems.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in the marina and is physically demanding.
  • Associate must speak, listen, complete documents, process requests, operate office equipment such as a telephone, calculator, computer, copier, and fax.
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for extended periods and occasionally kneel, stoop, bend, and twist in tight areas.
  • Comfortable with ladders and confined spaces is required.
  • Able to work in the elements regularly.
