About the Role
As a Dock Clerk, you will perform outbound and inbound coordinator duties in a back-up role and support north dock and south dock material handler tasks when necessary. This position handles multiple tasks daily and communicates regularly with co-workers and leaders across all departments, working closely with production leaders to support production needs.
Responsibilities
- Back-up to Inbound Logistics:
- Organize materials, schedule trucking, and release products from cold storage facilities to arrive in a timely manner to meet production needs.
- Verify invoices and resolve any discrepancies on a timely basis.
- Backup to Outbound Logistics:
- Schedule pick-up appointments with freight carriers and release outbound freight to meet all internal and external customer expectations without any demurrage time.
- Check orders for errors and send back to the appropriate employee and/or department, or fix the error.
- Actively watch for changes in processes that can improve or reduce time and cost (for both Kerr and the customer) and communicate to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Prepare all logistic documents, including accurate print labels for each order.
- Coordinate with the customer service department to ensure each shipment meets or exceeds all customer expectations.
- Material Handler duties as needed:
- Unload inbound goods and deliver to ultimate destination; verify inbound bill of lading matches the raw fruit receiving or purchase order(s) and generate inbound goods labels as needed.
- Prepare outbound orders; sign off on remote orders, making sure to follow customer requirements; generate shipping labels; create bills of lading.
- Transfer products to the Americold warehouse and fill out the proper documentation from those receipts.
- Provide the best customer service to all customers and suppliers (internal and external), ensuring that all shipments and receipts are prepared timely, cost-effectively, with appropriate materials and documentation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 1-year+ related experience and/or training.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and shipping instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to perform basic math problems.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Prior experience with SAP or another inventory/sales software.
- Prior experience with the following equipment (or able to achieve certification immediately upon hire):
- Forklift
- Electric pallet jack
- Golf Cart
