Dock Attendant

About the role

This position is responsible for shipping and receiving, inspecting shipments and trailers, and weighing all incoming eggs. The role supplies the processing department with eggs and handles other miscellaneous freight, packages, and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks.
• Weigh incoming eggs and document quality and lot tracking issues.
• Maintain inventory and control shell egg rotation.
• Inspect and sign for incoming product, packages, and supplies; reject when necessary.
• Coordinate and store materials/supplies while maintaining segregation of clean and dirty materials.
• Complete and maintain compliance for all required paperwork; complete corrective actions when necessary.
• Transport eggs from cooler to staging area for processing.
• Assist as needed during breaks and cleanup.
• Clean cooler with floor scrubber and maintain a clean environment at all times.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
• Ability and willingness to learn computer skills.
• Powered pallet jack and/or forklift experience required.
• Knowledge in food safety and egg quality is desirable.
• Monitor and comply with food safety and GMP policies.
• Knowledge of proper safety procedures.
• Able to read and follow written instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Able to train others.

Physical Demands

• Stand and walk constantly.
• Grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop frequently.
• Lift up to 60 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Sit, climb, and lift occasionally.
• Must be able to climb up to 150ft by ladder.

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles.
• May work in an outside environment where temperatures vary seasonally; clothing must be worn based on seasonal weather conditions.
• The noise level is usually moderate, though certain areas may be loud enough to require ear protection.
• All personal protective equipment will be provided and required during certain working conditions and in certain areas.
• Occasionally exposed to high places.
