Dock Associate

About the role

The Dock Associate position at Chair King® Backyard Store involves the preparation work necessary for delivery of merchandise as well as basic warehouse functions. The position will occasionally require the employee to work overtime hours.

Responsibilities

• Unwraps and assembles furniture at the assigned dock.
• Cleans and inspects merchandise for errors and defects.
• Touch-up merchandise as needed.
• Re-wraps merchandise for delivery.
• Stages merchandise for delivery truck loading.
• Aid with Customer Pick-ups (CPUs).
• Unload receiving inventory containers and trucks.
• Completes other duties as assigned by warehouse leadership team.

Qualifications

• Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
• No certificates, licenses, or registrations required.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
