About the role
Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO) is located in Owasso, OK. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 6:30am-3pm.
Responsibilities
- Report to work on time and prepared for each scheduled shift
- Perform all assigned duties and processes, including tasks for which you are fully qualified and those within your demonstrated capabilities
- Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive attitude throughout the workday
- Work collaboratively as a team member and contribute to a respectful, productive work environment
- Perform tests in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and serology
- Absorb and distribute work assignments
- Train employees in laboratory techniques
- Resolve work-related problems of staff
- Provide input for performance appraisals and disciplinary actions
- Investigate and resolve analytical testing problems
- Respond to non-routine/complex inquiries and/or requests from clients and sales representatives
- Expedites the flow of work to maximize productive capacity
- Evaluate production systems and recommend enhancements
- Review QA and QC records when applicable
- Assist with the department's annual competency testing process and documentation
- Interact in a professional manner with inter-departmental teams and groups
Qualifications
- Knowledge of standard laboratory processes and procedures
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Good understanding of laboratory quality assurance standards
- Good computer skills
- Ability to lead and coach staff to maintain optimal customer service levels
- MT or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience in a hospital setting
- Previous experience in a leadership role preferred
- Some phlebotomy tasks will be required
- Holiday and some weekend rotation required
- Overtime may be required as staffing levels dictate
- Willingness to work outside of normal hours to maintain service levels to hospital
