What you will do?
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the divisional HSE strategic plan aligned with corporate objectives and business priorities.
- Establish annual divisional goals, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives.
- Drive implementation of the SafeState™ Framework, Energy-Based Safety (EBS), Human Performance, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement throughout the division.
- Serve as the principal HSE advisor to divisional executive leadership.
Divisional Operations Leadership
- Provide executive oversight for all HSE operations within the division.
- Ensure consistent implementation of corporate HSE standards across all regions and business units.
- Standardize safety processes, procedures, and best practices across regional operations.
- Lead divisional operational reviews to identify emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
- Support major project pursuits, operational startups, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Ensure effective integration of HSE into planning, execution, commissioning, manufacturing, and service operations.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop Regional HSE Managers and senior HSE leadership.
- Build organizational capability through succession planning and leadership development.
- Evaluate organizational staffing needs and support recruitment of senior HSE professionals.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between regions.
- Promote leadership visibility through field engagement and executive safety observations.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure divisional compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO 45001, and client-specific requirements.
- Direct divisional compliance audits and management system assessments.
- Review significant regulatory findings and oversee corrective action implementation.
- Ensure consistent application of corporate HSE governance and reporting requirements.
- Support enterprise certification and compliance initiatives.
Risk Management
- Lead divisional strategies focused on Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention.
- Review significant incidents, fatalities, high-potential events, and major property losses.
- Validate root cause analyses and ensure systemic corrective actions are implemented.
- Oversee divisional emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.
- Monitor emerging operational risks and recommend enterprise improvements.
Financial & Business Management
- Develop and manage the divisional HSE operating budget.
- Forecast staffing requirements and support strategic workforce planning.
- Evaluate HSE investments, technology initiatives, and capital improvement opportunities.
- Support insurance, risk management, and claims reduction strategies.
- Improve operational efficiency while maintaining world-class safety performance.
Performance Management
- Establish divisional HSE performance expectations.
- Monitor leading and lagging indicators across all regions.
- Analyze performance trends and identify systemic improvement opportunities.
- Present divisional HSE performance to executive leadership.
- Drive accountability for continuous improvement across all operational levels.
Client & Executive Engagement
- Serve as the executive HSE representative for major clients and strategic partnerships.
- Participate in executive project reviews and business planning sessions.
- Support contract negotiations involving HSE requirements.
- Represent the organization during significant regulatory interactions and industry events.
- Collaborate with enterprise HSE leadership on corporate initiatives and long-term strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field.
- Master's degree in Safety, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline (Preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive HSE leadership experience.
- Minimum 7 years leading regional or divisional HSE organizations.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple regions and large, geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience supporting construction, manufacturing, industrial, mission-critical, or service operations.
- Proven success leading organizational safety culture transformation.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar HSE budgets and staffing plans.
- Strong executive leadership and strategic planning experience.
