Position Summary
The Procurement Manager is responsible for the direction and daily activities involving the procurement of raw materials, parts, equipment and operating supplies required for production of Parker Precision Fluidics products. The Procurement Manager has overall responsibility for strategic sourcing, supplier management, negotiation and contracting, risk management and procurement compliance activities that enable the Division’s strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Establishes preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations.
- Promotes and uses strategic suppliers.
- Interviews, selects and negotiates with suppliers in response to material requirements and defined performance criteria.
- Guides the creation and maintenance of commodity strategies that align with divisional and corporate strategic objectives.
- Develops and manages continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, service and price as well as other performance criteria to create the best supply chain for Parker.
- Develops sourcing strategies to ensure continuous supply at best overall value to Parker. This should address all global economic, geopolitical and natural disaster strategies.
- Develops and benchmarks best practices among the Divisions suppliers and maintain accurate measurements and records for evaluation of suppliers.
- Safeguards purchases and capital expenditures are consistent with Division strategies and within department budgets.
- Safeguards compliance with all Corporate and Divisional Procurement policies and procedures.
- Safeguards supply activities are effective in reducing inventory while increasing risk mitigation with tools such as Kanban, consignment and redundant sourcing.
- Embraces and drives lean enterprise systems throughout the procurement process.
Qualifications
- 4 year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification in supply chain management preferred.
- Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper business process automation opportunities.
- Functional understanding of cost accounting and its practical application.
- General knowledge of ERP systems and overall proficiency with technology tools that enable planning and reporting.
- Ability to work within high-performing teams in highly collaborative environments.
- Demonstrated ability to accept new ideas, engage in creative, innovative and systemic thinking to develop unique, differentiated solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to listen, influence others, manage change and effectively motivate through open communication.
- Experience with LEAN manufacturing and relevant concepts/methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills required with 6 sigma certification preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including proficiency in developing and utilizing pivot tools and macros.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external stakeholders.
