Position Overview

Collaborate with business and R&D leaders to create and manage IP strategies, including enforcement strategies.
Assist in managing offensive and defensive IP litigations.
Prepare, present, and implement strategic approaches to complex legal issues.
Provide day-to-day IP-related legal advice to R&D professionals and senior business managers.
Draft and negotiate intellectual property-related agreements such as licenses and joint development agreements.
Manage patent preparation and prosecution to support IP strategies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as an IP attorney - preferably:
    • 2+ years patent preparation and prosecution.
    • 2+ years patent litigation experience at a nationally recognized law firm.
    • Previous Corporate experience is a plus
  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school. Bar membership in good standing in at least one state
  • B.S. in engineering, materials science, chemistry, biology, or physics
  • U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registration
  • Ability to present to top level executive management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, writing, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws / procedures, and ability to explain complex issues to non-lawyers.
  • Travel, including international travel, is expected (~10% max).
