Core Responsibilities
- Lead portions of the month-end close cycle, including preparation and review of key journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed variance explanations.
- Ensure reporting deadlines are met and financial statements reflect accurate, GAAP-compliant information.
- Maintain and refine internal control procedures consistent with SOX requirements, ensuring proper documentation and risk mitigation.
- Oversee accuracy of product cost structures, including bills of material, routing setups, overhead rates, and annual cost refresh activities.
- Monitor manufacturing performance through analysis of labor, material usage, overhead absorption, and purchase price variances; partner with plant teams to address gaps.
- Manage inventory-related accounting processes: WIP, cycle count results, physical inventory oversight, reserve analysis, and metrics related to inventory health.
- Support operational improvement initiatives by providing quantitative analysis, cost modeling, and financial guidance for continuous improvement projects.
- Contribute to the annual budget cycle and recurring forecasts using data-driven modeling and scenario planning.
- Deliver insights related to program profitability, project cost projections, backlog expectations, and risk/opportunity assessments.
- Evaluate capital spending proposals through ROI and NPV modeling and perform post-implementation performance reviews.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for ERP platforms and reporting tools, supporting enhancements, data accuracy, and user training.
- Promote consistent processes and automation opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and transparency in financial operations.
- Support development of dashboards or analytics that enhance visibility for leadership and operational teams.
- Lead, mentor, and grow team members in cost accounting and financial analysis functions; establish clear expectations and success measures.
- Work closely with departments across the division to communicate financial drivers, operational impacts, and improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ethical behavior, professional accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- 7–10 years of experience in a manufacturing finance or related accounting environment.
- At least five years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting concepts, financial controls, and manufacturing processes.
