About the Fellowship

The fellowship includes a $5,000 academic scholarship along with a paid summer associate position in one of our offices (Newport Beach, Woodland Hills, Las Vegas, San Diego, or Walnut Creek). The goal is to forge a path to employment.

Eligibility

  • Available to second-year law students enrolled in an accredited law school.
  • Applications evaluated based on scholarship (grades), writing, and community involvement/meaningful contributions to diversity programs at law school.
  • Finalists will participate in an interview with a selection committee.

Application period: August 15 – September 15 each year. Decisions made by October 15 for the following summer’s fellowships.

Requirements

Submit a combined PDF containing all the following documents:

  • Typed personal statement (1,500-word maximum).
  • Resume.
  • Current transcripts (unofficial acceptable).
  • Most recent financial aid award letter.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation and/or references.

Application Information

  • Personal info: name, address, phone number, email address.
  • Undergraduate educational info: school, major, degree/year, cumulative GPA, class rank, honors/awards, extracurricular activities.
  • Law school educational info: school, date of graduation, cumulative GPA, class rank, honors.
  • Legal career plans + any employment offers.
  • Community involvement/contributions to diversity groups in law school and/or over the last four years.
  • Additional information (optional).

Definition of Diversity

Our definition of diversity is expansive and based on an individual’s experience. It can stem from race, gender, ethnicity, or social, faith, spirituality, religious, or socioeconomic background. It may also include military experience, disability, or being underrepresented or perceived as underrepresented within the law school community or legal profession.
