Dive Superintendent

About the Role

The incumbent will actively work with the Dive Manager on all current dive projects to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion. They will collaborate closely with the Diving Supervisor, Divers, Dive Tenders, and, when applicable, the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and other company personnel.

Responsibilities

• Works with the Dive Manager to plan and safely execute awarded dive projects.
• Provides operational guidance and instruction to employees on operating standards, safety, environmental compliance, productivity, cost savings, quality control, and customer satisfaction.
• Develops operational plans for new dive projects in collaboration with the Dive Manager.
• Ensures all diving operations are conducted safely and in accordance with the Diving Manual, Company Policies & Procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
• Arranges procurement of materials and services for current projects as needed.
• Coordinates loading and unloading of materials and supplies onto dive boats or material barges.
• Interprets project plans and specifications for dive team members and other involved parties.
• Ensures diving operations are conducted from a safe and suitable surface location.
• Verifies that all systems and equipment required for safe diving operations are provided and properly used.
• Works with the Diving Supervisor to ensure all equipment meets required standards and has been inspected and tested.
• Coordinates diving operations with the designated person in charge (e.g., Project Manager, Project Engineer, or customer representative).
• Prepares and maintains an on-site Emergency Plan, including the location and contact information for the nearest recompression facility and transportation agency.
• Delivers training to new Divers and Dive Tenders on Company Policies & Procedures, regulatory guidelines, First Aid, and CPR.
• Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with State/Federal regulations and improve existing programs.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary or trade secret information.
• Prioritizes personal safety and the safety of coworkers, stopping work if unsafe conditions are observed.
• Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies, reporting any violations promptly.
• Performs other administrative and technical duties as assigned, such as certification training, safety training, and procedure reviews.
• Fills in as a Diving Supervisor when needed (e.g., vacations, illness, or vacancies).

Requirements

• A minimum of ten (10) years of diving and marine operations experience.
• Proof of successful completion of dive training from a certified dive school.
• Prior experience in supervising or managing dive operations.
• Expertise in planning, procurement, mobilization, logistics, and regulatory compliance for dive projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safe diving operations and the ability to oversee underwater marine projects to completion.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple diving projects effectively.
• Commitment to high work performance standards.
• Ability to influence and motivate dive team members.
• Excellent communication skills.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Capability to wear and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes.
• Ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management, including corporate.
• Capacity to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as directed.
• Capability to evacuate work areas quickly in emergencies.
• Physical ability to walk, step, climb, or move between job site locations, including getting on and off work barges, boats, vessels, or docks of varying heights.
• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, or sit for long periods.
• Capability to lift and carry objects up to 20 lbs.
• Adaptability to extreme temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure.
• Qualified and physically able to drive regular passenger vehicles to work locations and job sites.
