Job Description

The District Program Specialist - Special Education will provide support to ensure that all students with disabilities receive appropriate educational programs and services in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.

About the Role

This position is responsible for developing and implementing special education programs and services within the district, collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal and state mandates, and providing guidance and support to teachers and staff on special education issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement special education programs and services
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal and state mandates
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff on special education issues
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of students with disabilities
  • Work with families to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Monitor and report on student progress towards IEP goals
  • Ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and related state and federal laws

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid California teaching credential or equivalent
  • Experience working with students with disabilities
  • Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Experience in special education program development and implementation
  • Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and related state and federal laws
  • Experience working with families and educators to develop and implement IEPs
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
